I’ve also heard 80-90C is practically cooking the cpu, albeit slowly and gently. ![]() Is it really normal/safe to have temps upwards of 90-100C on a laptop? I’ve heard laptop cpu chips are designed to operate at such temps regularly. Sometimes for no reason the temp jumps up to 80-90C and just sits there with the fans blasting on turbo. I have a cpu temp widget in my taskbar, and chrome keeps temps idling around 60-75C. Also, I always use my laptop on hard surfaces, no blankets or anything. I’ve had the fans cleaned & thermal paste replaced professionally. You know how any non-apple OS seems to grow more sluggish, and sort of just - become sloppy as time passes? I go to fair lengths to turn off start up programs, I keep an eye on the task manager, and still… temps run higher these days even while doing less demanding work on the laptop. So there’s very little risk of any destructive programs hiding, perhaps dormant, with all the other ‘saved data’ during a recovery?
